Celebrating 20 years
Over the past two decades, the Huskisson Triathlon and Multisport Festival—affectionately known as “Husky Tri”—has grown from a modest regional race into one of the most iconic events on Australia’s triathlon calendar. First held in 2005, the festival was born from a vision to bring the excitement of endurance sport to the beautiful shores of Jervis Bay in New South Wales. With its pristine beaches, friendly local community, and ideal race conditions, Huskisson quickly became a favorite among athletes and spectators alike.
The event now attracts over 6,000 participants each year, ranging from elite triathletes to first-time competitors and families. Over time, the program has expanded significantly to include a diverse mix of race formats and distances, such as Super Sprint, Sprint, Classic, and Ultimate triathlons, as well as ocean swims, aquabike events, fun runs, and the popular TriKidz races. This inclusive approach has helped build a strong sense of community and made the festival a bucket-list experience for athletes of all ages and abilities.
A key part of the festival’s enduring appeal lies in its atmosphere and location. The natural beauty of Jervis Bay, combined with a supportive local culture and a lively event village, creates an experience that goes beyond racing. Whether it’s yoga by the beach, watching friends cross the finish line, or enjoying the local hospitality, the Husky Triathlon Festival has become a celebration of healthy living, personal achievement, and the great Australian outdoors.
In 2025, the festival proudly celebrated its 20th anniversary with new additions like the 63km Husky Ultra Run, expanded community engagement, and a special recognition of the event’s legacy. This milestone marked not only two decades of sport but also the growth of a beloved tradition that has inspired thousands to swim, ride, and run along one of Australia’s most spectacular coastlines. As it looks to the future, the Husky Triathlon and Multisport Festival remains a shining example of how sport can connect people, challenge limits, and celebrate community.
